MySpeed™ VoIP Support Edition Identifies Connection Problems for Remote Customers

Web-based connection analysis tool enables support groups to perform and manage bandwidth testing process, view test results for remote users

TURLOCK, Calif. – August 14, 2007 – Visualware Inc., a leading developer of Internet connectivity measurement and analysis tools, today announced the immediate availability of MySpeed Server VoIP Support Edition. The new edition extends the popular MySpeed Server product family to provide support groups an effective means to quickly troubleshoot and resolve connectivity problems for remote customers, qualify potential subscribers for VoIP service, and measure end-user connection performance.

The Support Edition introduces OnDemand RSAs™ (Remote Support Agents) which deliver an easy-to-deploy, self-installing and ‘reusable’ agent architecture specifically for support groups. RSAs enable support staff to customize and interactively manage the connection testing process while working with customers during support calls. RSAs are designed to be deployed ‘on demand’ as an integral part of the customer support call process, however RSAs also support extended quality testing over hours or days to address and resolve intermittent problems, and include automated alerts of test results that violate service level thresholds.

“A key benefit of the Support Edition is the ability to manage RSAs from the web-based MySpeed Server console,” noted Julian Palmer , chief technology officer for Visualware. “Support technicians can easily create, publish, modify and remove RSAs from a central location, greatly simplifying the support call process while providing immediate visibility to remote customer connectivity problems.”

Performance metrics collected by RSAs include bandwidth speeds, connection quality, TCP delays, network routing and environment information, such as the platform OS and proxy use. Support technicians can easily view individual test results via the browser-based database reports. Detailed reports include a TCP Analysis Graph to identifyspeed variation patterns, network quality and congestion issues, ISP throttling impact and TCP window size problems.

The optional VoIP test simulates voice traffic and reports the supported level of VoIP quality. The data flow is accurately analyzed for packets that arrive out of order, arrive late, or are dropped or discarded -- all of which negatively impact VoIP sound quality and often result in garbled and unintelligible conversation. The simulation test can be easily configured to measure load capacity by simulating the traffic of multiple VoIP lines, the number of VoIP lines supported by a connection are also reported. VoIP performance metrics include jitter, packet loss, and MOS score, plus a detailed VoIP Analysis Graph which identifies the important packet loss distribution during the test.

MySpeed Server VoIP Support Edition is available for the Windows, Linux and Unix platforms, license options start at $1,495 per year. For product information please see http://www.myvoipspeed.com/support.html ; 15-day evaluation versions are available for download.
