Visualware Introduces VisualProfileTM Enterprise Edition: Scalable Enterprise Performance Monitoring With 'Last Mile' Measurements

Users License Full Suite of Data Collection Modules, But Only Pay For What Is Used

TURLOCK, CALIF -- MARCH 11, 2002 -- Visualware Inc. announced today the release of VisualProfile Enterprise Edition, a robust suite of Internet and network monitoring tools that features a sophisticated collection engine for true scalability, a powerful reporting interface, a wide array of data collection modules and a flexible licensing model. The application engine is available for operation on Windows, Linux and Solaris platforms.

VisualProfile Enterprise Edition's innovative component architecture allows an extensive range of distinct data types to be measured without software agents installed on the objects being monitored. Over 80 data-collection modules that monitor the critical performance metrics of routers, switches, firewalls, operating systems, applications, databases and IP services are included in one application. This functionality allows system and network administrators to monitor such diverse elements as Cisco routers, Solaris OS, HTTP, Apache, Oracle, IIS, SMTP, POP3, FTP and Windows 2000 networks with one standard interface.

A key feature of VisualProfile Enterprise Edition is DesktopProfileTM, which provides measurement of actual user response time-a critical performance measure that can be difficult and costly to achieve. DesktopProfile enables the measurement of several events at the end-user desktop, including packet loss and latency, as well as performance metrics for any Web-based application transaction or application port.

"DesktopProfile represents a major step forward in performance management," said Julian Palmer, chief marketing officer for Visualware. "The 'last mile' has traditionally been the most critical in regard to service delivery for the user, but it also has been the most difficult to measure and report. DesktopProfile provides a simple, effective way to report end-user response time. And, because of its exceptionally small footprint of just over 50K, it's easy and fast to deploy throughout the enterprise."

Coupled with the comprehensive array of collection modules is VisualProfile's revolutionary licensing model, which simplifies licensing for the end-user, while adding flexibility to utilize all available components. The customer licenses the entire enterprise-wide performance monitoring application, but only pays for the total number of devices, applications or IP services that are concurrently monitored. The user is free to change what is being monitored at any time without incurring additional cost.

"VisualProfile Enterprise Edition is the state of the art in performance and availability software," said Hank Harris, president and CEO of Visualware. "Its capabilities, coupled with a flexible licensing model, are ideal for IT managers who must maintain service levels on a tight budget."

VisualProfile's "run everywhere, access anywhere" Web-enabled technology allows users to install the product once and then run and configure it from any location. The suite can be deployed to monitor a few devices or thousands of systems in a multi-tier global network.

"VisualProfile delivers an exceptionally high level of sophistication in a simple, cost-effective package. The ability to swap collection modules in and out as needed, and as environments change, makes this new release a truly revolutionary product in the performance monitoring arena," added Palmer. "Because the number and availability of collection modules will be expanded significantly throughout the year, we expect VisualProfile Enterprise Edition to be the solution for most any performance monitoring requirement."

Pricing for the VisualProfile Enterprise Edition starts at $995 for entry-level licenses. Free 15-day trial versions may be downloaded from the Visualware Web site, http://www.visualware.com.
